Children

At Bethlehem we really value kids and are committed to helping parents grow spiritually strong families.

Discovering faith in a dynamic atmosphere that's safe and fun.

Building a strong bridge between church and home as we pour into the lives of future generations.

Connecting what the Bible says to everyday life so that we can all make right choices every day.

children's sunday school gatherings

We want to make the most of every minute together and our programs are designed to encourage your child to grow spiritually while making friends and experiencing God's love.

Our Sunday School classes open at 9:50am and run through the end of the Worship gathering.

What classes do you offer for my kids?

  • Nursery care for infants and children up to two years of age. Your little ones are our top priority and will be lovingly cared for in a clean and safe environment that encourages them to develop physically, emotionally and spiritually.
  • Our PreSchool class is designed to nurture faith in a relaxed environment that includes time for free-play, snack (goldfish or cheerios), craft and a simple Bible lesson. Activities are geared toward children ages two to five years, not yet in Kindergarten. This PreSchool Page allows families to introduce their children to the weekly Bible story and to talk over what they learn in Sunday school each week.
  • Our elementary program follows a large group/small group format. Children in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade explore the Big God Story all together and then break into smaller classes to reflect and respond in an age appropriate environment. This athome weekly prepares families to work with their children on optional activities and to talk confidently about the Biblical truths children are learning.

PLEASE NOTE:

Starting June 4th, elementary children will begin the morning in worship with their families, then transition to the Family Worship Center before the message for Bible skill play time. Kids in Service Dates are advertised through the Bethlehem Weekly.

Preschoolers discover:

  1. Church is a safe place where I experience God's love.
  2. God made the world.
  3. God made me and placed me in my family.
  4. God has been at work in my world since the beginning of time.

Elementary children discover:

  1. I am God's masterpiece and He loves me!
  2. I have a place in God's story.
  3. The Holy Spirit helps me do what's right.
  4. When I get off track, God offers me a path of healing.
  5. God fills me with His love, so I can give it away.

Will my kids be safe and healthy?

  • We value every child and treat them with the utmost care and attention. Each child is cared for in an individual way.
  • All our volunteers go through extensive screening and child protection training.
  • We operate a well-child program and ask that children and volunteers be free from any sign of illness for at least 24 hours before participating in our programs.
  • Our check in system ensures only those you authorize can pick up your child.

How will I know if my child has a problem?

  • We will reach out and let you know if your child falls ill or has been inconsolable for more than ten minutes.
  • Our check-in system allows us to send you a discreet text message if your child needs you. Please keep your cell phone on vibrate.
  • Enabling SMS text messaging allows us to quickly contact you in case of emergency.

How do I check my child in?

  • You can set up an account from home at go.kidcheck.com, and we encourage you to do so. This will greatly speed up drop off time on Sunday morning. But, you can also set up your account when you arrive.
  • Be sure to include information on your child’s allergies and other special needs. In the case of life-threatening allergies or serious conditions, please share your child’s needs with the volunteer who welcomes your child.
  • Enabling SMS text messaging allows us to quickly contact you in case of emergency.
  • Use the cell phone number you provided when you set up your account to check in on Sunday morning. Check in stations are located near the lower entrance and outside the Family Worship Center.
  • KidCheck will print out a name tag for your child to wear and a guardian receipt you will need at pickup. Both include a unique code which we match up to make sure only those you authorize have access to your child.

What if I want to keep my kids with me?

  • Children are welcome in our worship services. Be sure to ask an usher for an in-service activity sheet for your child to enjoy during the time of the message.
  • We offer a quiet room at the back of the sanctuary where families with very young children have space to spread out and enjoy the service together.
  • Our nursery includes a private room for nursing mothers to meet the needs of their infants.

Can my kids stay together?

  • Yes. We ask that they attend the program designed for the youngest child.
  • As soon as your children feel comfortable, we encourage them to attend the class designed for their age group.

What do you have for my older child?

Middle and high school students are engaged in a mentoring and leadership development experience connected to elementary Sunday school.  Middle schoolers explore emerging leadership skills during elementary large group time and then transition to a program focused on meeting their own spiritual needs.  High school students help lead elementary large group and small group time on Sunday mornings, and take a deeper dive into the Bible on Sunday evenings and during the week.

Friday Night clubs

These relaxed-format clubs, which run from 7:00-8:45pm, are designed to give kids a chance to have fun after a long week of school, in an environment that encourages healthy friendships and nurtures their faith. No pre-registration is needed. Just come out and enjoy!

Christian Service Brigade…giving a boy everything he needs to become a man of God.

Brigade is a multi-year discipleship program where a boy learns real-life skills as well as spiritual ones that he can apply throughout his life. Godly mentors guide boys through new experiences that develop these skills as they work toward achievements and goals. At the Battalion level boys participate in leadership development through progressive peer-leader experiences.

  • TreeClimbers for boys in Kindergarten through Second Grade (Dad-and Me or Like-a-Dad-and-Me format)
  • Stockade for boys in Third to Fifth Grade
  • Battalion for boys in Sixth through Twelfth Grade

Pioneer Clubs…an exciting ministry to girls in First through Eighth Grades

Pioneer Girls creates opportunities for girls to build self-esteem and form healthy Christian friendships that last a lifetime. Through a broad range of experiences, girls discover God cares about everything they do.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS

We strongly believe in the impact a Christian summer camp experience can have on the spiritual, emotional and physical development of children and families. The goal of our scholarship fund is to help children or families, who could not otherwise afford, to attend a sleep-away Christian summer camp.

Check back here in late winter to download a copy of our scholarship application.

Camps we love:

We really love and care about kids

We have a large staff of volunteers who work together to create opportunities for kids like yours to use their natural curiosity to learn about God and the world He created. We want to make sure all children know how much God loves them, and we try to provide age-appropriate programs where children personally experience that love.

At Bethlehem nothing is more important to us than the safety and security of your children. That's why we've chosen to use the secure KidCheck Check-in system. You can create your free account online at www.kidcheck.com by selecting 'Sign-up' and then "I'm a Parent/Guardian'.
