missions

Missions includes any endeavor outside our local congregation to fulfill the Great Commission and Great Commandment by proclaiming the Gospel of God while relating to the needs of the total person (spiritual, physical, emotional and social).

In light of these Biblical commands, the Missions Council of Bethlehem Church seeks to cultivate missions awareness and engagement, provide short-term missions service opportunities and support a vibrant career missions program.

short term trips

Bethlehem Church has an active short-term missions program that provides a range of opportunities for local, national and world-wide short-term missions. Recent short-term missions trips have included:

  • High School youth trips to serve in inner city Philadelphia, Baltimore, Chicago and New York.
  • Middle School local community outreach weeks.
  • Hurricane Katrina and Super Storm Sandy rebuilding trips to New Orleans, The Jersey Shore and Staten Island.
  • Medical missions trips to Haiti and Kenya
  • Orphan care trips to Rwanda

career missions

In 1924 Bethlehem Church commissioned its first missionaries who served in Venezuela for 48 years. Since that time the Bethlehem Church family has supported over 80 missionaries, many of which have come from our own congregations. We currently support 19 active missionaries in 12 countries around the world.

Our Missionaries are sent out through the following agencies: AWANA Clubs International, Bible Basics International, Camino Global, Christar, Christian Service Brigade, Church Planters to America, Global Outreach Mission, Reach Global, Redeemer City to City, The Rafiki Foundation, TEAM, TWR, World Impact, World Venture, Wycliffe Bible Translators.

See the file box located under our Missions Map in the Sanctuary foyer for prayer letters from our missionaries.  We also highlight missionaries in our weekly e-newsletter.
